America’s largest commercial baking firm, Bimbo Bakeries USA, will spend $430 million to open a new production facility in Zanesville, OH that will create several hundred new jobs, economic development officials announced.

“The investment being made by Grupo Bimbo in Muskingum County will create 320 new jobs in order to meet the company’s growing consumer demand,” Gov. Mike DeWine said in a statement.

Bimbo Bakeries USA, part of Mexican firm Grupo Bimbo, will receive assistance from JobsOhio’s Talent Acquisition Services for the project, and the Ohio Department of Development intends to provide a Job Creation Tax Credit and support the investment with improvements to transportation infrastructure.

“Grupo Bimbo’s new facility at the National Road Business Park will provide excellent access to market and opportunities for hundreds of Ohioans in Zanesville and in nearby communities to pursue careers and establish their version of the American dream,” said the president and CEO of JobsOhio, J.P. Nauseef, in a release.

The firm plans to fill roles in manufacturing, packaging, shipping and receiving, support, administration, and management.

Rival bread maker King’s Hawaiian is preparing to launch an $85 million expansion project at its location in Oakwood, GA, Powder & Bulk Solids reported this week. The company announced a new 150,000-sq-ft bakery will be built across the street from its existing bread production plant in the Oakwood South Industrial Park.
