Nestlé Purina PetCare has announced the expansion of its Jefferson, WI, pet food facility, with a $195 million investment.

Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers announced on Thursday that Nestlé Purina PetCare Company is expanding its production facility in Jefferson. It is expected to bring an additional 100 jobs to the community, reported the Daily Jefferson County Union.

Purina has operated in Jefferson for nearly 115 years and employs more than 250 local workers.

The project will increase production of wet pet food brands in Jefferson by nearly 50%, including Pro Plan, Fancy Feast and Beneful IncrediBites, and add 35,000 sq. ft to the facility.

Purina just opened a dry pet food facility in Eden, NC, at the beginning of the month. It also noted that another facility is currently under construction in Williamsburg Township, OH, to be fully operational in the next 12 months.

Between 2020 and 2025, Nestlé expects to invest $2 billion in Purina's factory and capital expansion projects to enhance its pet food manufacturing footprint.
