Flavors and fragrances maker Firmenich recently opened the Culinary Discover Center in Bangkok, Thailand to assist their customers in the development of new foods, including savory and sweet products, as well as beverages, the company announced Mar. 13.

“This investment reflects South East Asia’s importance to Firmenich as both a strategic growth region, as well as a Savory hub for Firmenich,” Chris Millington, president of the company’s Flavors unit, said in a statement. “Putting our Innovation to work, our chefs are dedicated ot creating authentic, great tasting, nutritious products from smart proteins all the way to sugar, salt, and fat reduction, in close collaboration with our local and regional customers.”

The move aligns with Firmenich’s recently-launched “Culinary Anthropology” design approach to developing savory food products. Customers visiting the Bangkok facility will be able to take part in creative idea development and rapid prototyping.

“Sharing a great taste experience forms a bond between people, across cultures and languages, it gives us stories and moments of happiness with our family and friends,” said Ed Alejandrino, vice president of Flavors, Southeast Asia, in a press release. “We look forward to welcoming our customers to our Culinary Discover Center, an inspiring space that will open their eyes, taste buds, and mind to new possibilities.”

The Swiss-owned company current operates four R&D centers and 30 manufacturing entities around the world, according to Firmenich’s website.
