Kellogg Names Former Walmart CEO as New Board Member

Kellogg Company’s board of directors elected a former Walmart chief executive officer Carter Cast to its board of directors effective June 15, the Battle Creek, MI company announced June 8. Cast’s role at Kellogg will be to help the firm expand its e-commerce presence.

"We are pleased to welcome Carter to our board of directors," said John Bryant, Chairman and chief executive officer of Kellogg Company, in a statement. "His innovative leadership in e-commerce and digital marketing, paired with his entrepreneurial vision and experience in the consumer packaged goods industry will be of great benefit to our company."

Cast has served as CEO of Walmart and online retail company Hayneedle Inc., where he helped lead the launch of the Blue Nile brand, a jewelry retail website. He has also served as the chief marketing officer of eBay and vice president of product marketing and marketing communications at Electronic Arts.

The incoming board member has also worked with PepsiCo as a marketing executive and Frito Lay.

Cast also serves on the faculty at Northwestern University's Kellogg School of Management, teaching entrepreneurship, innovation and marketing.
