Storage & Discharge of Powders & Bulk Solids Course Coming SoonStorage & Discharge of Powders & Bulk Solids Course Coming Soon
This basic course covers the operation, design, and specifications of hoppers and silos for reliable discharge.

A Storage and Discharge of Powders and Bulk Solids 2-day short course will be offered at the Wolfson Centre at the University of Greenwich from March 12-14, 2025.
It is a basic course covering the operation, design, and specifications of hoppers and silos for reliable discharge.
Hoppers, silos, bins and bunkers are widely used in industry for storing bulk solids materials. However, these facilities can experience operational problems — often because facilities have been designed without knowledge of the flow characteristics of the material to be stored.
This 2-day course has been specifically designed to help solve problems like these.
The short course covers:
• Basics of hopper and silo design and function
• Dealing with potential problems
• Discharge aids and interfacing to feeders
The course will cover ways to determine the correct design for reliable discharge, including determining flow properties of bulk solids, hopper geometry and practical design considerations.
Schedule
March 12-13: Theory classroom sessions
March 14: Practical Workshop
The 14th is an optional third day of the workshop.
All courses and workshops are written with the industrial engineer in mind. They are recommended for anyone who works in the industry involved in the handling and storage of powders, granules, particulates, and more such as operators who handle bulk materials, for maintenance, health & safety officers, and plant or equipment managers, designers, and manufacturers.
Register for the Storage and Discharge of Powders & Bulk Solids short course here. Fees start at £915 with discounts for group bookings.
