Plastic Resin Production & Sales Increased from 2023

Plastic resin production decreased MoM yet increased YoY

American Chemistry Council has released its resin production and sales statistics for April.

US production of major plastic resins totaled 8.2 billion pounds in April, a decrease of 4.9% compared to March, and an increase of 6.8% compared to the April 2023. Year-to-date production was 33.2 billion pounds, a 4.6% increase as compared to the same period in 2023.

Sales and captive (internal) use of major plastic resins totaled 8.4 billion pounds during April 2024, an increase of 0.5% compared to the prior month, and an increase of 13.7% from the same month one year earlier. Year-to-date sales and captive use were 33.5 billion pounds, a 9.3% increase as compared to the same period in 2023.
