The deflector reduces the safety area near the vented dust collector or vessel. When installed with an explosion vent, the deflector effectively directs flame from an explosion or deflagration to a designated safe area, for greater installation flexibility for the protected equipment.

The deflector’s ability to direct dangerous fire or explosion by-products in an up and outward direction means that workers or other sensitive plant areas are continuously protected even for processes handling high-KSt dusts.
