Fire and rescue crews responded to a dust explosion at a Palmer, KS grain elevator that left one person with injuries and caused some damage to the structure, the Washington County News reported on Aug. 3.
When the blast occurred at the Palmer Grain Inc. facility at about 2:45 p.m., the sound of the explosion could be heard throughout Palmer, area residents told the newspaper. The man was airlifted to an area hospital.
The State Fire Marshal’s Office is looking into the cause of the incident, coverage by local television news station KSNT said.
Palmer Grain’s elevator in Palmer has a storage capacity of 1,042,000 bushels of grain and 1000 tn of fertilizer, according to the company’s website. The facility offers custom grinding, feed delivery, and fertilizer and chemical application services.
