All recalls this month were due to undeclared allergens and product contamination.

The US Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service recalled 4 products and issued 3 health alerts in January. December had 3 recalls and 2 health alerts.
All recalls and health alerts consisted of the same two issues. Two of the recalls were due to undeclared allergens and one was due to product contamination. The health alerts were due to undeclared allergens and product contamination as well.
Misbranding/Undeclared Allergens
UP Products, DBA Meyer Wholesale of Ewen, MI, recalled approximately 400 lb of ready-to-eat pork and beef Polish sausage and raw pork and beef potato sausage due to the products containing soy and not added to the label. Products include: 5" x 8" vacuum-sealed packages containing “Otto Meyer's Premium Sausage Polish Sausage” with lot codes 24304, 24318, 24326, 24346 on a sticker; bulk packed in 12" x 24" clear bags containing “Otto Meyer's Premium Sausage Potato Sausage” with dates 1/6/25, and 1/7/25 handwritten on the label.
Custom Food Solutions, Louisville, KY, recalled around 105,164 lb of ready-to-eat frozen drunken chicken products due to the product possible containing egg and sesame, which are not on the label. The RTE frozen drunken chicken items were produced on various dates between March 14, 2024, through Jan. 15, 2025, with a shelf-life of one year. The product came in 60-lb cases containing 12, 5-lb. pouches of “Yats Drunken Chicken Cooked Chicken Thigh Meat in a Spicy Tomato Sauce with Beer,” and lot codes 4074, 4102, 4130, 4144, 4163, 4178, 4214, 4229, 4236, 4255, 4325, 4326, 4339, 4355, 5002, and 5015.
Product Contamination
Bestway Sandwiches Inc., Valencia, CA, recalled approximately 24,870 lb of frozen chicken and cheese taquito products that may contain metal. The products come in 20-oz. carton packages containing “Casa Mamita Chicken & Cheese Taquitos,” with Best By Dates 07/03/25 and 09/25/25 on the bottom panel.
D.J.’s Boudain LLC, Beaumont, TX, recalled approximately 17,720 lb of fresh and frozen boudain sausage link products that may be contaminated with pieces of a pen.
Health Alerts
Stockyards Packing Co LLC frozen, raw ground beef products may contain hard plastic and metal. The frozen, raw ground beef items were produced on Dec. 10, 2024, and include vacuum-sealed packages weighing approximately one pound containing “Turner Farm,” “Stockyards Packing Company Ground Beef” and lot code 241210. The product was shipped only to Turner Farm in Cincinnati, OH.
Rajbhog Foods, New Jersey, Chicken Curry Empanadas product was issued a health alert due to misbranding and undeclared allergen. The product labeled as Chicken Curry Empanadas may actually contain Apple Cinnamon Empanadas, which contain milk. The products were produced Nov. 14, 2024, and packaged on Nov. 20 and 21, 2024. Empanadas came in 9.6-oz. cardboard packages labeled as “bettergoods Traditionally Crafted Chicken Curry Empanadas” with “BEST BY: 05/21/26” or “BEST BY: 05/22/26” and “EST. P33967” on the side of the box.
A health alert was issued for Wegmans Frozen Fully Cooked Chicken Nuggets due to possibly containing bone fragments. The products came in 46-oz. plastic packages containing “Wegmans Family Packed Fully Cooked Breaded Chicken Breast with Rib Meat,” and best if used date of 08 26 25. The chicken was produced on Aug. 26, 2024. It was produced by Perdue Foods for Wegmans and was sold to retail locations in DE, MD, MA, NJ, NY, NC, PA, VA, and DC.
