K-State's Bulk Solids Tech Center Announces 2025 Short CoursesK-State's Bulk Solids Tech Center Announces 2025 Short Courses
Courses run from 2-3 days and include processing, bulk solids handling, pneumatic conveying, and more.

Kansas State University's Advanced Manufacturing & Bulk Solids Technology Center has released its 2025 list of short courses.
The short courses are designed to further educate and upskill employees through a combination of discussion of theory along with practical hands-on learning with real equipment and systems. All courses take place at K-State's Olathe Campus.
"We consistently see interest in the Basics of Pneumatic Conveying class. This tells us there is a lot of demand, and we want to continue to fill that need. We’re also offering our Advanced Pneumatic Conveying class earlier in the year to meet industry needs," said Jonathan McPherson, Director of Advanced Manufacturing Research and Training.
2025 Bulk Solids Tech Center Short Courses
February 25-26: Processing & Handling of Bulk Solid Materials
This two-day course is intended to provide a basic understanding about the various bulk solid processes and handling methods.
April 8-9: Basics of Pneumatic Conveying
This two-day course provides a broad education about everything related to pneumatic conveying. Students receive an expert lecture about each topic, and then take part in hands-on demonstrations using working components and actual conveying systems at one of our partner sites.
June 10-12: Advanced Pneumatic Conveying
This three-day course provides a brief overview, and then dives into specifying, designing and sizing a pneumatic conveying system. It involves a combination of theory, calculations and practical hands-on application. Some time will be spent at our partner site to apply hands-on learning by using real components and operating conveying systems.
August 26-27: PLC and Automation
This two-day workshop on programmable logic controllers (PLCs) is designed to provide a hands-on introduction to PLC systems and a deeper understanding of real-world applications. This course covers the basics of programming, networking and communication, and integration with different systems.
October 7-9: Dust Collection Fundamentals and System Design
This three-day course will explain how dust collection systems are designed and explain selection and sizing for each component. Dust explosion hazards and prevention also will be explained.
December 2-3: Basics of Pneumatic Conveying
The two-day course provides a broad education about everything related to pneumatic conveying. Students receive an expert lecture about each topic, then take part in hands-on demonstrations using working components and actual conveying systems.
Select courses will have afternoon visits to a partner site, providing the opportunity to step beyond the classroom and apply what was learned.
