The US Food & Drug Administration has recalled 22 products in the month of May, which is down from April with 28.

Of the 22 recalled products, 17 were in the food and beverage category, 4 were in drugs/medical devices, and 1 was in the animal/pet product category.

Food & Beverage

Out of the 17 recalls in this category, 7 were due to undeclared allergens, 1 was due to inclusion of yellow oleander, 5 for possible Salmonella contamination, 2 for the potential of Listeria, 1 for insufficient nutrition, and 1 for noncompliance of Food Compliance Programs.

7 foods were recalled for unlabeled/undeclared allergens:

  • Chuao Chocolatier Potato Chip Mini Chocolate Bar – Undeclared hazelnuts

  • Texas Pecan Co. Nuts, snack mixes, seeds, snack sticks in 1 lb and 8 oz packages – undeclared peanut, tree nuts, soy, milk, sesame, and wheat

  • Food Science LLC Amyloid Complete Dietary Supplement Capsules – undeclared shellfish (crab, shrimp)

  • Aldi Macaroni Salad – undeclared wheat

  • S&S Cup Saimin Noodles with Soup & Garnishes – undeclared egg white powder

  • County Road Seafood Crab Cake 2 pack – undeclared egg

  • Pop a Nosh Mixed Munch Regular and Honey BBQ – undeclared wheat

1 recall was for the presence of Yellow Oleander:

  • Green ELV Nutrition Elv Control Herbal Supplement

5 products were recalled due to the potential of Salmonella contamination:

  • Multiple brands (Freshness Guaranteed, Palmer, Sweet Smiles, Snackin’ With The Crew, Casey’s, Sconza Chocolates, Favorite Day Bakery, Sunny Select, Urge!, Kwik Trip Inc.) Various confectionary products including Caramel Swirl Pretzels 4oz, Cookies & Cream Yummy Chow 14#, Munchy Medley 4oz, Peanut Butter Snack Mix 12oz, Vanilla Yogurt Covered Pretzels 10oz, Zebra Fudge Cookies 7oz, Patriotic White Fudge Cookies 13.5oz, Drizzled Caramel Corn 5oz and 12oz – (the white coating on the products)

  • HyVee Plain Whipped Cream Cheese, Plain Cream Cheese, and Cookies & Cream Mix

  • First Street, Gelson’s, bulk at Down Home Goods, Thorp Fruit Yogurt-Covered Pretzels

  • Great Value Organic Chia Seeds

  • United Supermarkets Chocolate Caramel Corn and Candy Tray

2 products were recalled due to the potential of Listeria contamination:

  • Planters Honey Roasted Peanuts and Deluxe Lightly Salted Mixed Nuts

  • Irving Seafood 1 lb. packages of Crabmeat: Jumbo, Lump, Finger, and Claw meat

1 recall was for noncompliance of Food Compliance Programs:

  • Dairy Manufacturers Inc. Crecelac and Farmalac Infant Formula

An additional 1 recall was for insufficient nutrition:

  • Mt. Capra Goat Milk Formula Recipe Kit

Pet Products

1 product was recalled due to the potential presence of loose metal pieces in the product:

  • Mars Petcare US Pedigree Adult Complete Nutrition Grilled Steak & Vegetable Flavor Dry Dog Food

Drug / Medical Devices

There were 4 drug and medical device product recalls:

  • Ethicon Megadyne Mega Soft Pediatric Patient Return Electrode – reports of patient burn injuries

  • Hospira Buprenorphine Hydrochloride Injection Carpuject Unites and Labetalol Hydrochloride Injection, USP Carpuject Unites – potential packaging defect

  • Sagent Docetaxel Injection, USP – potential presence of particulate matter

  • Medline SubG Endotracheal Tubes with Subglottic Suction and kits that contain them – the inflation tube and other deice components have become detached and/or torn from the main tube, resulting in moisture buildup, loss of pressure, or inability to inflate.
