Food and Beverage Industry Projects in May 2024

Planned projects have been on a downward trajectory for two months in a row.

In May 2024 there were 57 new projects planned for the North American food and beverage industry including new plant construction, expansions, renovations/equipment upgrades, and plant closings, according to research firm SalesLeads. This is less than April, which had 66 planned projects. In comparison so far this year, January and February had 66 and March had 72.

Of the new projects, 35 were new processing facilities, and 29 were distribution and warehouses.

The largest project is by Kikkoman Foods, who is planning to invest $800 million for the construction of a processing, warehouse, and office facility in Jefferson, WI. The project includes the expansion and equipment upgrades of their existing plant in Walworth, WI.

Top 10 Tracked Food and Beverage Projects

WISCONSIN

Nestlé Purina is planning to invest $195 million for a 35,000-sq.-ft expansion and equipment upgrades on its processing facility in Jefferson. The company has received approval for the project.

OHIO

Snack food manufacturer Shearer’s Foods is planning to invest $106 million for the renovation and equipment upgrades on a processing facility in Moraine. It is seeking approval for the project. Construction is expected to start in fall 2024.

INDIANA

Nutritional supplement manufacturer 1440 Foods is planning to invest $60 million for the renovation and equipment upgrades on a 200,000-sq.-ft processing facility in Jeffersonville. They have recently received approval for the project. They will relocate their operations upon completion in 2025.

NEW YORK

Clinton's Ditch Co-Operative Co., a beverage company, is planning to invest $41 million for the expansion of its manufacturing and warehouse facility in Cicero by 100,000 sq. ft. The company is seeking approval for the project.

BRITISH COLUMBIA

Vitalus Nutrition, a specialty dairy product manufacturer, is planning to invest $25 million for the expansion of its processing facility in Abbotsford. The company has received approval for the project. Construction is expected to start in summer 2024.

LOUISIANA

Food products distributor S&W Foods is planning for the renovation and equipment upgrades on a recently acquired 252,000-sq.-ft distribution and office facility in Hammond, investing $21 million in the project. Completion is set for late 2024.

CALIFORNIA

Alpine Foods, a food service distributor, is planning for the renovation and equipment upgrades on a 117,000-sq.-ft cold storage warehouse and processing facility in Vernon. The company is seeking approval for the project. Completion is slated for late 2024.

NEW JERSEY

Food processing company Chefler Foods is planning for the renovation and equipment upgrades on a recently leased 59,000-sq.-ft processing and warehouse facility in Saddle Brook.

NORTH CAROLINA

Specialty beverage manufacturer FedUp Foods is planning on renovation and equipment upgrades on a recently leased 52,000-sq.-ft processing and warehouse facility in Wilmington. Completion is slated for early fall 2024.

TENNESSEE

Swaggerty’s, a sausage manufacturer, is planning on the expansion of their processing facility in Kodak by 50,000 sq. ft. It is seeking approval for the project. Completion is slated for late 2025.
